Sound and Somatic Healing
Reconnect with the body.
Realign your energy.
Restore inner balance.
What Is Somatic Healing?
Sound and somatic healing is a gentle, experiential approach that taps into the wisdom of your body to release emotional energy, calm the nervous system, and reconnect with yourself on a deeper level.
By working with the body’s felt sense—its physical sensations, emotions, and subtle energy—we can begin to shift the patterns that talk therapy alone might not fully reach. I also integrate IEMT (Integral Eye Movement Therapy) into these sessions, which allows us to target and gently shift specific emotional imprints stored in the body and subconscious mind, without needing to relive past experiences.
Together, these modalities help us listen in, release what no longer serves you, and return to a place of inner calm and clarity.
The Role of Sound in Somatic Healing
Sound carries frequency. And frequency affects everything.
In our work together, I may incorporate tuning forks, vocal tones, music, or frequency-based meditations to support your healing process. These vibrations help regulate your nervous system, recalibrate your energy, and create coherence within.
Sound works beautifully alongside IEMT, as it creates a sense of safety and spaciousness in the body—allowing emotional imprints to surface and gently resolve. When sound meets emotion in the right frequency, true transformation can begin. It opens space, invites safety, and in that space, true transformation can begin.
What Happens in a Session?
Each session is customized to meet you exactly where you are—mentally, emotionally, physically, and energetically.
You’ll be welcomed into a safe, grounded space where I’ll guide you using a blend of practices such as:
-
Breathwork to soothe the nervous system
-
Somatic tracking to increase awareness of bodily sensations
-
Sound therapy to support energetic flow and deep relaxation
-
IEMT to gently shift unresolved emotional imprints
-
Visualization, color, and energy work to restore balance and clarity
You’ll remain fully in control of your experience, and many clients describe feeling more present, peaceful, and emotionally lighter after each session.
Why Somatic Healing Matters
Our bodies remember what the mind sometimes cannot express. Stress, trauma, or emotional overwhelm can become stored in the body—manifesting as anxiety, burnout, physical tension, or a general feeling of disconnection.
Through somatic healing, sound, and IEMT, we work together to:
-
Calm and regulate the nervous system
-
Shift emotional energy stored in the body
-
Access and release subconscious patterns
-
Support resilience and emotional safety
-
Reconnect you with your body’s intuitive wisdom
When we come back into relationship with our bodies, we open the door to healing that’s not only mental—but deeply embodied.
What Tools Might We Use?
Each session is unique, but I may incorporate:
-
IEMT for shifting subconscious emotional imprints
-
Hypnotherapy to explore subconscious patterns and imagery
-
Breathwork for grounding and release
-
Sound healing to support energetic shifts
-
Visualization & color therapy for transformation and integration
-
Subtle energy work to clear stagnation and restore flow
Every tool is chosen with intention—to support your healing from the inside out.
This Work May Support You If You:
-
Feel disconnected from your body or stuck in your head
-
Carry stress, tension, or emotional pain from the past
-
Want to explore beyond traditional talk therapy
-
Are ready to feel safe and regulated in your nervous system
-
Crave a more embodied relationship with your intuition
This work isn’t about quick fixes or surface-level change. It’s about gently tending to the places within you that have been asking for your attention—and offering them presence, compassion, and the space to transform.
If you’re ready to reconnect with your body, release what no longer belongs, and find peace in your inner world, I’d be honored to walk with you on this path.
Frequently Asked Questions About Somatic Healing
What is somatic healing therapy?
Somatic healing, sometimes called somatic experiencing therapy, is a body-centered therapeutic approach that helps release stored tension, stress, and emotional energy. It’s based on the principle that the body holds experiences and emotions, and that healing begins when we learn to listen to its signals.
By increasing awareness of bodily sensations, somatic healing helps you process emotions safely and restore balance between mind and body.
How does somatic healing differ from traditional talk therapy?
Traditional talk therapy focuses primarily on thoughts, memories, and emotions through conversation. Somatic therapy, on the other hand, invites the body into the process. It helps you notice and regulate physical sensations connected to stress, anxiety, or trauma—allowing for deeper release and integration.
At Grounded Visions Wellness, somatic healing may also be combined with modalities such as hypnotherapy, Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT), and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) for comprehensive mind-body alignment.
What techniques are commonly used in somatic healing?
Somatic practices may include:
-
Mindful movement and grounding exercises
-
Gentle body awareness techniques
-
Visualization and guided imagery
-
NLP or IEMT techniques
-
Hypnotherapy and breath awareness
These experiential tools encourage both cognitive understanding and felt sense creating healing that is embodied, not just intellectual.
When should someone consider somatic therapy?
You may benefit from somatic healing if you:
-
Feel emotionally stuck or disconnected from your body
-
Experience chronic tension, anxiety, or stress
-
Have a history of trauma or burnout
-
Intellectually “know” what’s wrong but still feel dysregulated or blocked
Somatic work is ideal for those seeking a holistic and body-based approach to emotional healing.
How fast does somatic healing work?
Every person’s experience is unique. Some clients feel noticeable shifts after the first session, while others deepen their awareness and regulation over several weeks.
At Grounded Visions Wellness, most clients find that three to five sessions allow for meaningful, lasting transformation. Each session builds on the last, creating steady and sustainable progress.
Can somatic therapy help with anxiety and stress management?
Yes. Somatic healing is highly effective for managing anxiety and stress because it teaches you to recognize how your body reacts under pressure. Through awareness and practice, you learn to self-regulate, release tension, and restore a sense of calm.
These techniques empower you to respond, rather than react, to life’s challenges.
How does "the body keeps score" relate to somatic healing?
The phrase “the body keeps the score” reflects the understanding that unprocessed trauma and stress are often stored in the body. Somatic healing works directly with these physical imprints, helping you release trapped emotions, restore nervous system balance, and feel safer within your body.
What can I expect during a somatic healing session?
A session typically begins with a brief conversation to identify what you’d like to focus on such as stress, anxiety, or recurring emotional patterns. You may be guided through grounding, breath awareness, or imagery exercises designed to reconnect you with your body’s sensations.
The experience is gentle, non-invasive, and tailored to your comfort level.
Is somatic healing evidence-based?
Yes. Somatic approaches are supported by growing research in neuroscience, trauma recovery, and psychophysiology. Studies show that body-based therapies can help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress hormones, and improve emotional resilience.
While not a substitute for medical or psychiatric treatment, somatic healing complements these approaches beautifully.
Can somatic therapy be combined with other modalities?
Absolutely. At Grounded Visions Wellness, somatic healing often integrates with hypnotherapy, NLP, IEMT, Mindscaping, and Holistic Life Coaching.
This blend allows for a full-spectrum experience that addresses both conscious understanding and subconscious release—creating change that feels aligned and embodied.
